Frequently asked questions

What does a query cost?

Your first 1,000 searches are free, up to 100 a day, however many providers each one reaches. No card needed. Need more? Write to support@grounder.net.

Do I bring my own provider keys?

You don’t need to. Searches run on Grounder’s own keys for all 10 providers, so you sign in and search; there’s no provider account to open and no key to paste. To have a provider bill you directly, add your key for it on your account page.

How much latency does routing add?

About a fifth of a second. Across the 816 searches behind the demo (each query routed, then fanned out to all 10 providers), Grounder added a median of 210 ms on top of the provider calls it waited for; half fell between 128 and 266 ms. That time goes to choosing the route, merging the results and, for questions about right now, re-reading pages that keep changing.

What do you keep, and for how long?

Each search’s query or prompt, the providers called, and what they returned, logged against your account. Records and the nightly backups are kept indefinitely. The full list, and how to stop routing from learning from your searches, is under how your data is used .

Which providers can a query reach?

Tavily, Exa, Brave, Perplexity, You.com, Firecrawl, Octen, Parallel, and Valyu on the open web, and Ozone for real-time licensed publisher content. Each result says which of them found it.

By default Grounder returns only licensed results: Ozone’s publisher content and pages on sites Ozone licenses. Turn that off under Routing on your account page to see every source.

For a question about right now, Grounder also asks the specialized API that holds the answer: Polymarket, Kalshi, The Odds API, ESPN, MLB, OpenF1, YouTube, Bluesky, Truth Social, Coinbase, Yahoo Finance, FlightAware, Transitland, Queue-Times.com, USGS, National Weather Service, Federal Reserve, and Status pages.
