YouTube

youtube

A channel’s latest videos and their views. Asked beside the web search when a question needs it, and served first with the time it was read.

OnlineGrounder’s key

How it works

  1. You search as usual, over HTTP or MCP, and Grounder searches the web.
  2. For a question about right now that YouTube can answer, Grounder also asks YouTube, beside the web search.
  3. The answer from YouTube is served first, with the time it was read, and routing.live_calls lists it.

Grounder holds a key for YouTube and reads it with that.

Using it

Ask the way you would ask any search. Grounder asks YouTube when the question needs what the source holds.

A question recorded for YouTube

MrBeast's new video

Routing sent it to Perplexity and asked YouTube, answered in 350 ms.

Set YouTube to one of these under Specialized APIs on your account page.

SettingWhat it does
OnAsked when a question needs what the source holds.
AlwaysAsked on every search.
OffNever asked.

To set it for one search, send routing_settings with the request. The docs list the rest of the request.

POST /v1/searchJSON
{
  "query": "MrBeast's new video",
  "routing_settings": {
    "specialized": { "youtube": { "use": "always" } }
  }
}

Add your own key for YouTube under Specialized APIs and your searches use it there.
